The Wandering Woman Series: A Journey in Color, Freedom, and Becoming

There’s a woman who lives across my canvases. You’ll find her walking through golden wheat fields, standing beneath wide open skies, facing horizons that seem to stretch on forever. She never looks back. She’s always moving forward, chest open, toward the light.

I call her the Wandering Woman, and she’s the heart of an ongoing series that has become one of the most personal bodies of work I’ve ever created.

Where the Series Began

The Wandering Woman Series started with a question I couldn’t shake: what does freedom actually look like?

Not the idea of freedom. Not the word. The feeling of it — the posture of a body that has nothing left to prove, the color of light on skin when you’re finally walking your own path instead of someone else’s.

I didn’t want to paint freedom as a concept. I wanted to paint it as a moment. A woman standing in a field, hat tilted against the sun, dress moving with the wind, present and unbothered and entirely herself.

That’s how the series was born — not as a plan, but as a feeling I kept trying to get right, painting after painting.

A Recurring Figure, A Different Story Each Time

Every piece in the Wandering Woman Series features the same solitary figure moving through a different landscape. Sometimes she’s surrounded by golden wheat. Sometimes the sky behind her is a deep, saturated blue. The light changes. The terrain changes. But she remains constant — always walking, always facing forward, always in the middle of becoming who she’s meant to be.

I think of each painting as a different chapter in the same story. She’s not one woman. She’s every woman who has had to walk away from something in order to walk toward herself — a relationship, an expectation, a version of her life that no longer fit.

The series isn’t about arriving anywhere in particular. It’s about the walking itself. The in-between. The becoming.

Why Color Carries the Message

If you’ve seen my work, you know I don’t paint quietly. The Wandering Woman Series is built on bold, saturated color — deep cobalt blues, warm golden ochres, rich purples that feel almost regal against the landscape.

That’s intentional. Freedom isn’t muted. Healing isn’t pastel. The women in this series are stepping into themselves loudly, and the color reflects that. Every palette choice is meant to make you feel the emotional temperature of the piece before you even register what’s happening in it.

More Than a Painting — A Piece of a Larger Story

Each canvas in the Wandering Woman Series is an original, hand-painted acrylic — never a print, never a reproduction. When you bring one of these pieces into your home, you’re not just adding wall art. You’re adding a moment of someone’s — my — ongoing exploration of what it means to grow, heal, and keep choosing yourself.

Collectors often tell me they’re drawn to a specific piece because of where they are in their own life — a woman rebuilding after loss, someone stepping into a new chapter, someone simply reclaiming a little peace. That’s the part of this series I love most. The paintings mean something different to everyone who stands in front of them, even though they all come from the same place in me.

Chapters in the Series

Each painting in the Wandering Woman Series marks a different moment in her journey — a different landscape, a different lesson, a different version of what it means to keep becoming.

Chest to the Sun — She stands in a field of golden wheat, chest lifted toward the light, embracing everything ahead of her without hesitation. It’s one of the clearest expressions of what this whole series is about — not looking back, not shrinking, just facing the sun and walking on.

She Sits on Her Throne — Not every chapter is about movement. Here, against a glowing sunset sky, she sits in quiet elegance — grounded, regal, at rest. This piece is about the power of stillness, the dignity of a woman who no longer performs for anyone, and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing your own worth.

Desert Sands — She stands before sweeping golden dunes under a deep twilight-blue sky, dressed in purple with a bold streak of crimson. This piece is about resilience and solitude — the beauty and strength found in wide open, untouched spaces, and the quiet steadiness it takes to stand within them.

Walking on Water — She stands at the water’s edge in flowing violet, a lone acacia tree stretching toward the horizon behind her. This piece captures a moment of quiet transition — the space between where she’s been and where she’s headed — and speaks to faith: standing at the edge of the unknown and stepping forward anyway.

Together, these pieces form a fuller picture of the same story: a woman moving through light and hardship alike, always choosing to keep becoming.

Where the Series Is Headed

The Wandering Woman Series is still growing. Every new piece is another chapter, another landscape, another version of what it looks like to keep becoming. I don’t know exactly how many women will eventually walk through this series — I just know she isn’t done walking yet.

If her story resonates with yours, I’d love for you to bring a piece of it home.
